RARE Chief Meyers Single Signed Baseball Inscribed “4 World Series” JSA COA

Description

One of the hardest-hitting catchers of the Deadball Era, Chief Meyers nearly captured MVP honors in 1912 with his .358 batting average and league-leading .441 on-base percentage. Then he collected 10 hits, 2 runs and 3 RBIs in the 1912 World Series! Meyers, who died in 1971, is rarely if ever seen onanysigned ball, let alone an impressive single such as this. The Official National League (Frick) ball dates specifically to 1935, and it is signed “Chief Jack T. Myers”and notated in blue-ink script: “N.Y. Giants / Brooklyn / 4 World Series.” The “Chief” portion of the signature appears to be written in a Native American language. Not only did he serve as Christy Mathewson’s battery mate, but Meyers also performed together with Matty on the vaudeville stage and voyaged with him in the 1913/1914 World Tour.
