Minor League Baseball has become a space for teams to pay homage to the history and economy of their communities. Coinciding with the Iowa Cubs’ reflection of an alternate identity, the 2020 presidential election became a prominent headline across the nation, with Iowa often mentioned synonymously. Thus, the Iowa Caucuses were born.
Iowa’s “first in the nation” voting status in the presidential campaign is a source of pride for Iowans and the I-Cubs aimed to capture that with the Caucuses.The uniform retains the iconic Cubs pinstripes while incorporating stars and stripes as a tribute to our nation’s flag. The red, white, and blue caps feature the Iowa Caucuses character logo, which is shaped like the state of Iowa, with a “1st” foam finger to indicate Iowa’s “first in the nation” position.
